OUR MODEL – SYSTEMS APPROACH

EII operates as a systems integrator aligning research institutions, women-led SMEs, government strategy, and climate finance pathways. Rather than implementing isolated projects, the Institute convenes partnerships that enable structured, long-term scale.

WOMEN & LABOR TRANSFORMATION

Women perform the majority of Enset processing labor, often under physically demanding and time-intensive conditions. EII serves as a global advocacy and coordination platform aligning research institutions, government strategy, women-led enterprises, and catalytic financing to accelerate processing innovation, improve hygiene, and expand equitable enterprise pathways.

FIELD-GROUNDED INSIGHTS

Recent field engagement across Southern Ethiopia reinforced that Enset scale is constrained less by production than by coordination—including processing technology access, SME financing, research dissemination, and market linkage. EII works to align these actors through a consortium-based platform anchored in Ethiopia’s national Enset development strategy.
